My DVD player broke on the weekend, the annoyance of life! Like seriously how annoying. It was the last straw in what has become a seamlessly annoying month. First I came to went into a work appraisal expecting to be “appraised” and ended up leaving with a pay cut. For like, no reason except the recession band wagon. Then my council tax went “down” by two pounds. And then, my DVD player broke. I mean, how maddening – it is the only form of cheap entertainment left and it broke. And I am totally skint until I get paid which means no going out and no DVD therapy for me!

I know a broken DVD player it sounds trivial compared to Haiti, I mean, when I think about the bad things in the world I get mad at myself but you know how you get into a rut and of the same day in and day out and feel like you’re on a treadmill… but when you have no money these little forms of escape really matter and the fact that I can’t come home from work and watch DVDs just makes me want to cry! Please God give me back my DVD player, ahhhh!
